Ritual Summon
A Ritual Summon is conducted when you activate (and resolve) a Ritual Spell Card and tribute Monsters from your side of the field or your hand whose levels are equal or more than the Ritual Monster you want to Ritual Summon. Ritual Monsters, just like Fusion, Synchro and Xyz monsters, must first be Special Summoned by their Ritual Spell before they can be Special Summoned by any other means. Ritual Monster can be distinguished by their blue background color and Ritual Spell cards by their Ritual Spell Emblem beneath the Spell Card Symbol.
Here is an Example of a Ritual Summon:
Turn Player A controls two face-up Tour Guide From the Underworld monsters. He activates Synthesis Spell and tributes the 2 Tour Guide From the Underworld on his side of the field to Ritual Summon Lycanthrope.

As you can see from the example above, Ritual Summoning is arguably the hardest form of Special Summoning by far because you need the following cards to even think about Ritual Summoning:
1.) The Ritual Monster card you want to Ritual Summon in your hand.
2.) The Ritual Spell card for that particular Ritual Monster in your hand.
3.) Monsters in your hand or on your field whose Levels combine to be equal to or greater than the monster you want to Ritual Summon.
As such Konami has made a series of Support cards to help make Ritual Summoning easier.
-Senju of the Thousand Hands: This card helps you add a Ritual Monster from the Deck to your hand if successfully Normal Summoned or Flip Summoned.
-Sonic Bird: Upon successfully being Normal Summoned or Flipped Summon, you can add a Ritual Spell card from your deck to your hand.
-Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands: This card essentially combines Senju with Sonic Bird. You can add either the Ritual Monster or the Ritual Spell card from deck to your hand when this card is Normal Summoned or Flip Summoned.
-Preparation of Rites: A kind of an interesting Ritual Support card. It allows you to add a Level 7 or lower Ritual Monster from your deck to your hand, then gives you the option to add a Ritual Spell card from your Graveyard to your hand.
-Ascending Soul: This card allows you to return a monster you tributed for a Ritual Summon back to your hand. Could help you recycle cards like Sonic Bird, Senju or Manju. The only catch is that you can only do it once per turn.
-Samsara: A less moderate version of Ascending Soul. Tributed monsters used for Ritual Summons are returned to the deck instead.
Also, Konami has made a few cards to help Ritual Summon monsters of select Attributes:
-Earth Chant, Contract with the Abyss: These Ritual Spell cards all you to Ritual Summon any EARTH or DARK (respectively) Ritual Monster from your hand. The only catch: the combined levels of the monsters you tribute must MATCH the level of the monster you want to Ritual Summon. You can't tribute monsters to where you end up higher than the level of the Ritual Monster (Ex. Tributing 2 Cyber Dragon, for a total of 10,to Ritual Summon Demise, King of Armageddon, who is only level 8). The monsters Summoned by Earth Chant and Contract With the Abyss are treated as having been Ritual Summoned by their original Ritual Spell card.
-Ritual Raven: This card can count for the entire tribute for a DARK Ritual Monster. Combine this with Ascending Soul for multiple Ritual Summons in a single turn.
Rules Specific For Ritual Monsters:
1.) Ritual Monsters cannot be Normal Summoned or Normal Set.
2.) Ritual Monsters cannot be Special Summoned except if they were first Ritual Summoned successfully.
3.) With the exception of Earth Chant and Contract with the Abyss, you can Ritual Summon a monster using the card listed in the first line of the card.
4.) The Ritual Monster "Relinquished" CANNOT be Normal Summon or Set and MUST be first Ritual Summoned by Black Illusion Ritual.
